In a bathtub rimmed in lime basil salts, I take a spoon to hollow my belly until I am October squash, my pulp swimming in salt ready for baking. The whirlpool is a pressure cooker and I leave the bath without my body. The water boils over cremating my leftovers.
Becca McGilloway has an MFA in Poetry from the Stonecoast Creative Writing program at the University of Southern Maine. Her poems have been published in Spires Magazine and States of the Union.
